Pumps and Pumping System

Through pumping action, pumping systems produce dynamic pressure variations or pulsations. Pulsations are typically caused by mechanisms within the pump. Depending on the clearance space between the impeller vane tips and the stationary diffuser or volute lips, the installed clearances of seals and wear rings, and the symmetry of the rotor and case, centrifugal pumps generate pulsation amplitudes.
